Privacy
This is a plain-language draft. Before launch, replace the words in [square brackets] and have a lawyer who knows Indian IT and data-protection law read it.
We collect only what is needed to run a dating service safely. This page explains it in plain words.
What we keep
- Account: email, name, date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, city, password (stored only as a scrambled hash).
- Profile: your photo, the lines about you, interests.
- Chats and hellos: the messages, photos, videos, voice messages and files you send in chats, and a location only if you tap "Send location" (it is sent once and does not follow you). The people in that chat can open them.
- Deleted messages: when you delete a message for everyone it disappears for everyone at once. The text stays in a private safety record that members cannot see (see "Safety record" below). Attached photos and files are erased after 7 days unless they are part of a report.
- Groups: messages and files you send in a group can be opened by the members of that group.
- Stories: photos or videos you post. Your friends see them for 24 hours, then they are deleted.
- Face check: a live selfie. Our team compares it with your photo. The selfie is deleted as soon as the team decides. If nobody decides within 6 hours, the green tick is given automatically and the selfie is kept for up to 14 days so the team can double-check it, then it is deleted. We keep the result (ticked or not).
- Safety record: for the safety of all members and to meet legal duties we keep a private record of: your email and sign-up details; every sign-up and login with the IP address, the approximate place and network provider, and the device; who you said hello to and who said hello to you; the text of your chats (not photos or videos); your call log (who, when, how long); reports about you and warnings you received. We keep this record until a retention period set by our team ends. [Insert the retention period decided with your lawyer.] It is not used for advertising.
Why
- To show your profile to people who match what you both want, to deliver messages and video calls, and to keep the site safe from fake profiles and scams.
Who can see it
- Other members see your profile (name, age, city, photo, bio, interests, green tick). They never see your email, date of birth or IP.
- Your chats are private. Our team does not browse them. A chat is opened only when someone reports it, when an automatic safety flag is raised (for example, words linked to violence, drugs, terrorism, sexual content or harm to children), or when a valid legal request requires it. Every time the team opens a chat or downloads a record, the reason and the name of the team member are written in an audit log.
- Video calls go directly between the two phones or computers. We do not record them.
- We use service providers to run the site: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Resend (emails) and, if switched on, an automatic photo-safety checker. We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.
- We share your record with the police, a court or another authority only when we receive a valid written request (with the case or FIR number) or when the law requires it. Each such release is logged.
Your choices
- Edit your profile any time from the Me page.
- Ask to delete your account from the Me page. Your profile disappears for everyone at once. Our team then reviews the request and erases your profile, photos, stories and files. The private safety record described above is kept for the retention period.
- Download a copy of your own data (profile, chat text, calls and sign-in history) any time from the Me page: "Download my data".
- Safety checks: photos that you receive are checked on your own phone by a free detector, and are blurred if they may contain nudity, so you can choose whether to look. Messages are also scanned for a list of safety words so that our team can review serious cases.
- You can ask us to show, correct or erase your data, or make a complaint, by writing to our grievance contact: [Name], [email address]. We reply within [7] days.
Children
Mitr is only for people aged [18] and over. If we find an under-age account we remove it.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your login is kept in your browser storage so you stay logged in.
